Afrikaanspective: A Fresh Lens on Africa, From Our Own Perspective

Today marks the start of something special. Afrikaanspective is here—not just as another media brand, but as a space for African stories told the way they should be: authentically, unapologetically, and with pride. We’re not just here to cover what’s happening across Africa; we’re here to explore why it matters, from a perspective that’s often overlooked.

Welcome to Afrikaanspective—where every story is an invitation to see Africa through our eyes.

So, come along with me for a quick journey. I’m Timothy Dehinbo, co-founder of Afrikaanspective.

When Balogun Damilola[Founder] and I first came up with this idea, it wasn’t just about starting something new—it was about changing the way things are done. We wanted to challenge the status quo and shift the narrative around Africa. We know this won’t be easy, and we can’t do it alone, but we’re ready to put in the work. This is our contribution, and we’re committed to making it meaningful and impactful.

Afrikaanspective isn’t just another media outlet—it’s our answer to a world where African voices often don’t get to tell their own stories. It’s about shifting the narrative, about showing Africa in all its layers—its struggles, its successes, its beauty, and its contradictions. From politics to entertainment, sports to fashion, technology to entertainment.

Afrikaanspective is here to explore the diverse, dynamic, and sometimes unexpected parts of African life.

What can you expect from us? For starters, we won’t sugarcoat things. We’re not here to tell you only what you’ve heard before. We’re here to open the door to stories you won’t find in the mainstream most times. Whether it’s a deep dive into the rise of African startups, the challenges and triumphs of African athletes on the world stage, or the creatives defining what African culture looks like today, and many other unique stories—this is where you’ll find the real, unfiltered stories.

But it’s not just about what we’re telling you; it’s how we’re telling it. Afrikaanspective is about breaking free from outdated narratives. It’s about offering a new perspective—a fresh lens that doesn’t just cover what’s going on, but digs into what it really means. Expect stories that resonate, that make you think, that make you look at Africa a little differently. Expect content that isn’t just about entertainment, but about transformation. Expect a community where African voices aren’t just heard, but celebrated.

We don’t want to just tell stories. We want to change how the world sees Africa—and how Africans see themselves. We want to provide a platform for those who are pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and challenging expectations. We’re launching a space where our stories aren’t just told, but valued.

Today is just the beginning. Afrikaanspective is more than a media brand—it’s a movement. It’s about reclaiming our narratives and sharing them with the world on our terms. Whether you’re from Africa or across the globe, whether you’ve lived these stories or are just discovering them, we invite you to join us. Let’s redefine what it means to tell African stories—and let’s do it together.

This is Afrikaanspective. It’s ours, and it’s just the start.
